Ship: Nuestra Senora De Atocha
Sunk: September 6th, 1622 - Off The Florida Keys
The Atocha Shipwreck is among the world's most famous wrecks. This treasure ladened Spanish Galleon was a part of the 1622 Treasure Fleet that sank in a hurricane off The Florida Keys and later discovered by Mel Fisher. At the time, it was the largest discovery of gold and silver "treasure" ever discovered from a shipwreck. This artifact is an iron ship's spike used to hold the structure of the ship together. It was discovered by divers working for Mel Fisher and comes additionally with their certificate of authenticity, dated 1989, located inside the frame.
