The Atocha Shipwreck is among the world's most famous wrecks. This treasure ladened Spanish Galleon was a part of the 1622 Treasure Fleet that sank in a hurricane off The Florida Keys and later discovered by Mel Fisher. At the time, it was the largest discovery of gold and silver "treasure" ever discovered from a shipwreck. This artifact is the bottom of a Spanish raptor sword hilt, the iron ball used to counter balance a sword in a combatant's hand and was part if tge accoutrements used to defend the ship from pirate attacks. This artifact comes with additional certificates of authenticity, including from Mel Fisher and dated 1989. They are located inside the frame.
