Louis XV

Born in Versailles in 1710, LOUIS XV was the son of LOUIS, Duke of Burgundy, and Marie Adelaide of Savoy.  He succeeded his great-grandfather in 1715. Louis XV was crowned at Reims in 1722. Louis XV oversaw the The Seven Years' War (1756-1763 )and the Treaty of Paris, seeing the loss of French territory in North America and India. Public opinion became a force. The reign of Louis XV was an era of prosperity and development, along with the extreme flowering of the arts, letters, and sciences. Louis XV is remembered for his failed attempt to reform economic and financial system and liberalization of morals and a different orientation of the literature.
