Egyptian Amulet - Cat Goddess
Laye Dynastic Period
Ca. 664 - 334 BC
Cats and other felines were worshipped by the Egyptians. Bastet is the most produced feline Goddess. Bastet assumed the image of a cat or a feline headed woman combining both nurturing and violent qualities. All Egyptian Artifacts were legally exported from Egypt prior to the 1970 Unesco Treaty, and subsequent international trade laws regarding antiquities.
