Colonial American Farthing

Ca. 1670

St. Patrick's Farthing

This coin was made legal tender by the new Jersey Gneral Assembly in May of 1682 and is on of America's earliest coins! It was struck in Dublin, Ireland Ca. 1663 - 1673 and brought to the Colonies by Mark Newby for the purpose of having a coin in circulation to replace the barter system bringing the American Colonies one step closer to the "modern" world.
