Celestite (or Celestine) is a mineral known for its soft blue color and delicate crystal formations. Composed of strontium sulfate, it is most commonly found in sedimentary rock deposits and often forms in beautiful crystal clusters.
Its name comes from the Latin caelestis, meaning “heavenly,” inspired by its sky-blue color. Major deposits of Celestite are found in Madagascar, Mexico, Libya, and the United States.
Highly valued by mineral collectors, Celestite is admired for its natural crystal structure, calming color, and its importance as the primary source of strontium, an element used in fireworks, glassmaking, and industrial applications.
