A WWII-era German KS98-style dress bayonet, produced as a private-purchase sidearm for ceremonial and uniform wear rather than as a standard combat-issued bayonet. It features a long, fullered blade, black checkered grip panels, a bird’s-head pommel, and a recurved quillon. German examples of this type are classified by the Smithsonian as dress-model knife bayonets.

The bayonet includes its dark steel scabbard and leather belt frog. It measures approximately 15½ inches overall

The set displays considerable age and wear throughout. The blade has oxidation, dark patina, scratches, staining, scattered pitting, and finish loss. The hilt fittings show surface corrosion and substantial plating wear, while the grip panels have scratches and handling marks. The scabbard shows oxidation, scratches, discoloration, and finish loss. The leather frog is heavily worn, dry, cracked, stained, and deteriorated, with visible wear around the stitching and fastening hardware.

No maker’s mark is clearly visible. Please review all images carefully for condition, markings, and included components.
