Late WWII Japanese Arisaka Type 30 “Last Ditch” Bayonet with Scabbard and Frog

A late World War II Japanese Type 30 bayonet made for the Arisaka service rifle. Often referred to by collectors as a “last ditch” variation, this example features simplified wartime construction, wooden grip panels secured by rivets, a straight crossguard, hooked pommel, and a fullered blade.

The bayonet includes its steel scabbard and original-style leather frog with buckle and securing strap. It measures approximately 21½ inches overall when sheathed.

The blade, fittings, scabbard, and leather display substantial age and service wear, including oxidation, spotting, pitting, dark patina, scratches, finish loss, and general deterioration. The wooden grips show staining, surface wear, and small cracks around the fasteners. The leather frog is dry and heavily worn but remains present with the bayonet.
