An early-production German S84/98 III bayonet manufactured in 1935 for use with the Karabiner 98k rifle. Known among collectors as a “G-Date” bayonet, the letter “G” was used as a coded designation for the 1935 production year during Germany’s early rearmament period.
The bayonet features a blued, single-edged blade with a long fuller, wooden grip panels, a steel pommel with working-style press stud, and a straight crossguard.
Included are the dark steel scabbard and black leather belt frog. The set displays age and service wear throughout, including scratches, oxidation, dark patina, finish loss, scattered corrosion, and wear to the wooden grips. The leather frog shows dryness, creasing, surface wear, and deterioration consistent with age.
A desirable early German K98 bayonet set retaining its scabbard and leather frog. Please review all photographs carefully for condition, markings, and whether any component numbers match.
