A distinctive World War II-era American fighting knife featuring a heavy, theater-made steel knuckle guard with four finger openings. The knife has a dark-finished spear-point blade and rugged, riveted construction, giving it the improvised, utilitarian appearance associated with privately made and field-modified combat knives.

The knife is paired with a U.S. M8 scabbard manufactured by B.M. Co., complete with its olive-drab web belt hanger and retaining strap. The scabbard bears a hand-applied “36” marking near the throat.

The set displays substantial age and service wear throughout. The knife has oxidation, surface pitting, scratches, dark patina, and finish loss across the blade and knuckle guard. The scabbard and webbing show staining, fading, fraying, oxidation to the hardware, and general wear consistent with age.

It measures approximately 11 inches overall. An unusual WWII military collectible with a bold, handmade character. Please review all photographs carefully for condition, markings, and construction details.
