A World War II-era German S84/98 III knife bayonet made for use with the Karabiner 98k rifle. This post-1934 pattern features a single-edged, fullered blade, wooden grip panels secured by screws, a straight crossguard, and a steel bird’s-head pommel with a mounting slot and release button.
Included are the dark steel scabbard and leather belt frog shown. The bayonet measures approximately 15½ to 16 inches overall.
The set displays considerable age and service wear throughout, including scratches, oxidation, dark patina, spotting, pitting, and finish loss. The wooden grips show staining, surface wear, small cracks, and wear around the fasteners. The scabbard has scattered corrosion and discoloration, while the leather frog is heavily worn, dry, cracked, stained, and deteriorated around the strap, stitching, and hardware.
Please review all photographs carefully for condition, markings, and whether the bayonet and scabbard numbers match.
