WWII-Era U.S. Garand Bayonet, Shortened or Modified Pattern – No Scabbard

A U.S. military bayonet made for use with the M1 Garand rifle. It features a fullered spear-point blade, ribbed black grip panels, a muzzle-ring crossguard, and a hooked steel pommel with bayonet-locking mechanism.

The bayonet measures approximately 16½ inches overall in the photographs. That length falls between the standard M1 bayonet, which measures about 14½ inches overall, and the earlier M1905 pattern, which measures about 20½ inches. Because of this, the blade may have been shortened, reshaped, or otherwise modified at some point.

The piece displays substantial age and service wear throughout, including dark patina, oxidation, pitting, scratches, staining, edge wear, and extensive finish loss. Areas of the blade appear to have been cleaned or polished, while heavier corrosion remains toward the point. The grip panels, guard, fasteners, and pommel also show wear and oxidation.

No scabbard is included. Please review all photographs carefully for condition, measurements, markings, and evidence of modification.
