This authentic Spanish ½ Reales silver coin dates from 1665–1700, during the reign of King Charles II, and was struck at the historic Potosí Mint in present-day Bolivia
Minted from New World silver and intended for global trade, coins like this circulated widely across the Spanish colonial network. This particular example was later lost at sea and recovered from an unidentified shipwreck off the coast of Florida, adding an additional layer of maritime history to its story.
The coin shows the effects of long-term ocean exposure, with natural wear and surface texture that reflect its time beneath the sea. Despite this, it remains a genuine artifact of early global commerce and Spanish colonial expansion.
Housed in a protective display case, this piece is ideal for collectors of shipwreck artifacts, Spanish colonial coinage, or early world currency.
