* Pirahna *
A piranha or piraña, a member of family Serrasalmidae, or a member of the subfamily Serrasalminae within the tetra family, Characidae in order Characiformes, is a freshwater fish that inhabits South American rivers, floodplains, lakes and reservoirs. Although often described as extremely predatory and mainly feeding on fish, their dietary habits vary extensively, and they will also take plant material, leading to their classification as omnivorous.
* Habitat *
Piranhas are found in a wide variety of freshwater habitats, and each differs depending on the species. Some common habitats include streams, tributaries, creeks, lakes, rivers, wetlands, and flooded areas. Certain species prefer clear waters, while others inhabit more murky environments. All piranha species are located in South America.
* Diet *
Piranhas generally eat smaller fish. Larger fish and small mammals may be attacked if there is a school of piranhas. Foraging methods vary in the different life stages of Piranhas. During the day, smaller fish typically search for food whilst at dawn, late afternoon and early evening the larger fish search for food.
