Fort Popham is a Civil War Era coastel defense fortification at the mouth of the Kennebec River in Phippsburg, Maine. The location is in sight of the short-lived Popham Colony which was named after their leader George Popham. Pictured is a rare Maine paddle steamship broadside poster. Ships went from Fort Popham to Gardiner, South Gardiner and Richmond. You can visit For Popham today as it is a National Park.
